My Story
We are running in support of SUDC UK, in memory of Liam Shepherd, who tragically and unexpectedly passed away in his sleep in 2021.
Liam was just a child, yet he left an enormous imprint on everyone who knew him. I had the privilege of being Liam’s Year 5 teacher, and he was truly one of those pupils you never forget. He was kind beyond his years, intelligent, thoughtful, and quietly caring towards others. He had a gentle presence and a brilliant mind, and he made the classroom a better place simply by being in it.
Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) is devastating and still so little understood. It shatters families and leaves parents searching for answers that may never come. SUDC UK provides vital support to families like Liam’s and works tirelessly to raise awareness, fund research, and ensure that no family has to face this unimaginable loss alone.
We are running not just for the miles, but for Kim, Liam’s mum, for Liam himself, and for every family affected by SUDC. This run is our way of remembering Liam, honouring the beautiful boy he was, and standing alongside those who continue to live with his loss every day.
If you are able to donate, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your support helps SUDC UK continue their essential work and helps keep Liam’s memory alive.
