For 30 years, Brigstowe has been a lifeline for people living with HIV, especially those facing barriers: refugees, asylum seekers, LGBTQ+ communities, as well as people with no safe place to disclose. We've mentored hundreds, advised thousands, and supported hundreds more who have struggled with life, and we’ve trained hundreds of public-facing professionals.
Every stride you take supports people living with HIV in Bristol. As Brigstowe celebrates 30 years of care and advocacy, we're more needed than ever. While medical advances mean HIV is now manageable, stigma and isolation remain daily realities. The evidence-based, national HIV Action Plan 2025-2030 shows that people newly diagnosed with HIV should be offered peer support — yet funding gaps threaten these vital services.
Your fundraising helps us provide peer mentoring, support groups, and practical advice on benefits, housing, and employment. Our specialist Social Worker supports refugees and asylum seekers navigating complex immigration systems while managing their HIV — often facing language barriers and cultural isolation.
You're creating a welcoming community where people affected by HIV can connect without judgment, access expert guidance, and rebuild their lives. You're not just running 10k or a half marathon — you're helping us continue three decades of breaking down barriers and ensuring nobody faces their HIV diagnosis alone.
Thank you for standing (and running) with us.
